  • Obiettivi e attività

Il progetto vuole promuovere le competenze digitali di gruppi esclusi digitalmente mediante partnership tra scuole, imprese e settore non formale, comprese le biblioteche pubbliche.

In the context of the transformation of modern society, accelerated with technological and social chang, today’s citizens need to acquire new skills to manage the new reality: Digital skills, critical thinking and media literacy are key skills and competences needed by today’s moderns citizens.
One of these challenges is the media and social inclusion for disadvantaged young people.
Disadvantaged young people: their voice is often underrepresented in the media.
The main response to these challenges is to empower young people from migrant and ethnic minority groups (in cooperation with local youth from low socio-economic background) to take the media in their own hands. The project aims to upscale a local project called “Young Journalists” which was developed in local level in Athens by the coordinator of the project.

    Specific Objective :

To increase media literacy and digital media skills of the disadvantaged young people through their empowerment to run and manage their own digital media.
To increase the skills of professionals to implement digital media training programs that will be effective for the specific target groups.

The development of the project is divided mainly in 4 distinct phases.
    1. The first phase is related with the development of the method for the organisation of training in digital media skills through the organisation of e-newspapers, online radio stations etc run by young people from disadvantaged background based on the “Young Journalists” best practice. At the beginning of this phase, Network for the Children’s Rights is going to propose a structure for the method. Then, focus groups are going to be organised with disadvantaged young people and professionals in order to validate the proposal on the basis of the real training needs of the young people. All the partners are going to contribute to the development of the method on the basis of their expertise. The method is going to be translated in all partner languages. The guidance book will be available both in electronic format and in printed format.

    2. The second phase is related with the training of professionals working with disadvantaged young people (youth workers and media professionals).
The training of trainers is going to be organised in a blended format using both face to face and e-learning. The face to face training is going to be organised in the framework of the 3rd transnational meeting of the project in Athens and will last 3 days. Totally 12 trainers are going to participate as trainees from Greece, Spain, Germany, Sweden and Italy. These professionals after the completion of the face to face training course, are going to follow an e-learning course in order to complete the development of their skills. An e-learning platform is going to be specifically adapted in order to meet the needs of the target group and training material is going to be developed and uploaded on the e-learning platform.

    3. The third phase is related with the training of young people.
This phase (organised face to face as well as online by the expert partners on digital media Inercia Digital) as well as from professionals that have participated in a training of professionals session. Guidelines are going to be provided to these professionals who are going to train young people through specialised workshops. Inercia Digital is going to travel in all partner countries in order to deliver the workshop on digital media. Specific emphasis is going to be provided to the increased participation of young girls in the sessions. At local level, training will include also workshops, study visits in media organisations, simulations etc. It is expected that 300 disadvantaged youth are going to be involved in all the countries of the consortium. The training material will be uploaded also on the e-learning platform in order to develop an e-learning course which will be used for sustainability purposes.

    4. The fourth phase is going to be the phase of the practical implementation of the skills acquired by the young people involved.
They are going to develop and run their own e-newspaper and online radios. Cooperation with mainstream media will be seeked in order to disseminate widely their articles and their voices. Mentoring will be provided by the partner organisations throughout this implementation phase
