History

Dedalus is a non-profit organisation founded in 1981 by a group of people with different backgrounds, skills and knowledge: experts in economics and the labour market, sociologists and social policy researchers. We are an economic, social and democratic enterprise, which aims to improve the wellbeing of local communities and create job opportunities for their members.
We also work to ensure equal rights in our workplace, regardless of roles, nationalities, gender or religious affiliation.
Dedalus has always been characterised by participatory working, socialisation and the sharing of cultural proposals. We are attentive to differences and firm our mission of creating welcoming and supportive communities. We do this on the basis that communities are safer when they embrace those who have been pushed out and give them a voice, and do not shy from challenges of mediating a peaceful coexistence.
Since 1986, we have taken particular interest in issues relating to migration and the rights and duties of migrants in their efforts toward emancipation and citizenship. We became a type A social cooperative in 1999, and since 2007, we have strengthened our commitment to training social workers and our beneficiaries. We were accredited as a training institution in the Campania Region in 2006, and received a Child10 award in 2020 for exceptional child advocacy.
We currently promote and support reception, job orientation and citizenship pathways, particularly for victims of trafficking, unaccompanied foreign minors, women in difficulty and transsexuals.
